I wonder, if I were to name something I was thankful for with every berry that entered my mouth, how long it would take me to eat this pie. I wonder if with time, it would become less of an exercise and more of a genuine outpouring. I wonder if I would realize at some point, that I did not need the whole pie after all, at least not all in one sitting. Blessings are like that. We do not need them all, at least not all in one sitting. Sometimes we think we do, a sense of entitlement can get in the way of genuine gratitude. This Thanksgiving be genuine. There is no badge of honor for trying to muster up thanks for what your heart is not truly thankful for. There are plenty of things, which if you search long enough, you will find you really are thankful for. Clean water. Air. Shelter. A mind that can think thankful thoughts.
