Merry Christmas! In the merriest sense.
Definition of merry = cheerful, lively.
We have reason to be cheerful because Christ came, and lives.
Definition of lively= to be full of life and energy.
Full of life, not just in a temporary sense, but an eternal sense, for those who know the Christ of Christmas.
To be full of life is to experience both joy and sorrow, fear and hope.
What a gift to walk these Christmas Emotions with the Prince of Peace.
Christmas Emotions
It’s a time of being thankful for the things that make life grand
It’s a time of sadness for the heartache we don’t understand
Time to line our blessings up and count them one by one
To know in our disappointments that the best is yet to come
It’s a time of being thankful sin has lost its greatest power
Time to realize we are tempted still and need God every hour
A time to share our joys, as well as share our sorrows
From memories of yesterdays to hope of bright tomorrows
It’s a time of celebration, for giving and receiving
For hoping in redemption where we may have stopped believing
A time for resting in the Greatest Love we’ll ever know
Even if our ducks are not all lined up in a row
It’s a time for friends and family, for goodwill and for cheer
For generosity towards people suffering this year
A time to find significance in both the big and small
A time to pause and just take in the wonder of it all
I pray for Holy presence in each high and in each low
That more than just His story, Jesus’ glory we would know
I pray that we would carve out space to quietly reflect
And that we’d be surprised by joy in ways we’d least expect
Christmas seasons come and go, this one truth remains
All men need a Savior, and that’s why Jesus came
Both in our highs and in our lows, His saving grace is shown
And He imparts, a peace in heart, like none the world has known
“Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 40:5
