Happy New Year!!

The year 2021 now begins

We can mark the moment by…..staying in

Bye-bye 2020, we all celebrate

(Because you as a year, were a brick shy of great)

We will Zoom in the New Year with friends and family

(That’s in keeping with rules from the CDC)

And we’ll sit by the fire, sip cocoa, and dream

(Of the things we will do when we get a vaccine)

We don’t mind staying in, we can take our masks off

(As long as we sit far apart and don’t cough)

We’ll enjoy trying to think up new quarantine fun

(In case it comes up again in ‘21)

All humor aside, last year passed like a blink

At the very least we’d say the year made us think

Of the many things we take for granted ourselves

(Like plenty of paper towels lining the shelves)

Covid-19 turned some things upside down

But there were some bright spots in it to be found

Like neighbors and hospitals, schools and more

Coming together like never before

We don’t know what awaits us in 2021

(Though we’re hoping it’s something a little more fun)

We will meet the New Year, with faith and a smile

And patience to last us for quite a good while

We will start it with hope for the days yet to come

And resolve to be kind everyday, to someone

There’s no telling where the road takes us from here

But we’re hoping that 2021 is our year!
