Yours for the Taking

Right now our family is waiting to adopt a child.  We have filled out the paperwork, finished the interviews, paid our fees.  We have sent out the invitation for someone to become part of our family. Being a part of our family means sharing our home, our meals, our vacations, our setbacks and our greatest joys.   You will become one of us. We will cry when you cry, we will smile when you laugh. Being part of our family comes with a price, but we paid the price, so if you happen to be the child we adopt it will not cost you anything.

Although it will not cost our next child anything to become part of our family, something needs to happen to make it happen.  Someone needs to accept the invitation. If no one accepts, the family relationship will never be established. If the family relationship is never established, the benefits of being part of our family will never belong to another person.

Maybe that does not seem like such a big loss.  With all we can offer, our family is still imperfect, living in a fallen world.  But what if being in our family meant experiencing perfect love, never-failing provision, and living in this kind of paradise forever?

That’s what God, the Heavenly Father offers.   Love. Provision. Completeness in relationship with Himself.  Ultimate provision. A home with your new family in an unbroken place called Heaven, forever.

God wants to be your Father.  He sent His Son to pay the price so the adoption could happen.  But something has to happen for the adoption to occur.

The question is not, does God love the world?  John 3:16 tells us He does. The question is, what in this world are we each one doing with love He offers?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (ESV)
