Who Is He?

Getting a social security card for my adopted son was quite a process. It should not be that hard to prove you are who you say you are, especially at six months old. I had the required documents in hand, but the person behind counter number three wanted more.

I guess I should have known it would not be easy to prove my son was who I claimed He was. God understands, literally. I had a birth certificate and a court document, Jesus had a lot more than that, and yet people did not believe Him. There are over 350 prophecies in the Old Testament of a coming Messiah which Jesus fulfilled. And for the sake of those who still did not believe, Jesus did a few things that would be impossible for a man to do, unless of course He was the Son of God.

He healed the sick.

He turned water into wine.

He made a lame man walk.

He calmed a storm.

He restored a withered hand.

He made blind men see.

He fed more than 5000 men...with a few loaves of bread and a handful of fish.

He walked on water.

He helped someone catch a fish….with a coin in it’s mouth.

He predicted His own death and power over it.

He died, and then, He arose to life.

I know, if only you would have been there to SEE these things then it would be easier to believe. Perhaps like the lady behind counter number three, who was not at the hospital the day my son was born, nor at the courthouse when our adoption became official, you think with a little more evidence, you would believe.

What the lady behind counter number three wanted was something like an insurance card with my son’s name on it. I explained that very few six month old’s actually have their own insurance cards (hence the card with the name of the policyholder-my husband). I explained that until the adoption was official, the name we gave him at the hospital did not become his legal name.

As it was my son got his social security card. I guess the lady behind counter number three decided the evidence was sufficient. She decided that my son was who I said he was.

Do you believe Jesus is who claimed to be? Believing Jesus is God’s Son and taking Him as your Lord and Savior will cost you. It will cost you everything you long to hold onto in this life. Jesus must be Lord of all, or Lord of none. But not believing Him will also cost you, it will cost you to forfeit the gift of eternal life in Heaven.

"Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”                                                                     John 20:30,31 (ESV)
