What We Trade Freedom For.

Any time we protect our freedom by insisting others serve us, instead of using our freedom to serve others, we shackle ourselves to the flesh Christ came to free us from.
I do this more often than I would like to admit.
I do it when I say “Okay, fine”, in a tone that says “I am annoyed I am being inconvenienced.”
I do it when I choose comfort, over caring.
I do it when I uphold my image, rather than extending an invitation.
I do it when I focus on my agenda, rather than God’s.
And it costs me.
Deep within, freedom calls us to the responsibility it creates.
Choosing responsibility allows us to enjoy our freedoms.
Let freedom ring. And let it bring more freedom.
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Galatians 5:13 ESV
