To Have The Mind Of Jesus

 

To have the mind of Jesus, this is what I pray

Oh to have the mind of Jesus as I walk about today

I want to live like royalty, I’m the child of a King

And I’m called to be obedient to my Father in all things

 

To have the mind of Jesus, to have His willing hands

To want to want my Father’s will,  instead of my own plans

To let go of the selfishness that clings to my own ways

To focus on His perfect will and how I can obey

 

To have the mind of Jesus,  to know His peace in full

To bring each thought and action, under His control

To trust my life to Him,  each dream of mine at stake

To totally rely on Him with every step I take

 

To have the mind of Jesus, beneath His cross to hide

To choose to walk in love, and lay down self and pride

To have the mind of Jesus, in all He bids me do

That the glory of the Father,  in my life might shine on through

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.  Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue  confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”   Philippians 2:5-11 (ESV)
