Stressed Out

Stressed out.  Maxed out.  Worried out.  We worry about people, about deadlines, about health, about relationships, and of course about money.   Looking at our resources (which we generally are when we are worrying), we should be worried.  We can't control people, health ,or relationships and if there are two things we never seem to have enough of it would be time and money.

But God's resources are unlimited.  He actually has the ability to control people (though He chooses to give us free will), to heal the sick (and also to raise the dead), to mend broken relationships, and make the broken-hearted whole.  He transcends time and He does not need money because He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and if He lacked anything (which He does not), He could just create it.

That's why to the stressed out, maxed out, worried out, God says "Don't look at your "problems", look at ME.  Don't look at your resources, look at ME."

God offers us peace in every storm but if we're not careful we can miss it.  We miss it when we focus on earthly solutions instead of eternal truths.  We miss it when we we wait for Him to change things when what He wants to change is us.  We miss it because we long for answers and solutions but all the while He has orchestrated our circumstances to make us long for Him.

And until we fix our eyes soley on Him, until our hearts are truly in Heaven instead of here on earth, we'll continue to be stressed out, maxed out, worried out.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."  I Peter 5:6,7 (ESV)

There is a way out of being stressed out.
