Some Thanksgiving...

​

 

To our sometimes ungrateful heart, Thanksgiving makes it clear

There are many things we can be thankful for this year

​

Freedoms that we have, which not all people share

The gift of friends and family, of folks around who care

 

The gift of something good to eat, a hat to warm a head

Work to fill our days and then at night a cozy bed

 

Now and then some sunshine, to brighten up the days

The knowledge God is loving and is perfect in His ways

 

Sometimes the disappointments and the sadness of a year

Can make us wonder what’s ahead, what will be from here

 

Yet despite the bumps of life, still our heart today

Can choose to pause and give thanks for the good that’s come our way

 

A grateful heart finds joy, remembers it can sing

Over bigger blessings, and also smaller things

 

A night light in the darkness, a reassuring touch

Sometimes to cheer a grateful heart, it does not take much

 

We pray you have a wonderful Thanksgiving day this year

We pray your heart is open that your vision might be clear

To see the many things you have, which you can give thanks for

And in the days to come may you give thanks for many more
