Redeeming the Time

7 Ways to Redeem the Time.

1. Be grounded in truth.

Some people spend a lifetime searching for truth, how much better to know the truth and spend a lifetime applying it.  God’s word is truth. Study it, memorize it, apply it.

2. Walk in the Spirit.

You will find that studying the word, and even memorizing it, is easier than applying it.  The good news is that the Holy Spirit comes to live in born again believers to enable us to do just that.

3.  Receive the moments as they come.

Some moments come in the form of exciting opportunities, some in the form of the Refiner’s fire.  Some moments are a call to action, some are an invitation to rest. Live the moment you are in, not the moment you wish you were in.

4. Give generously.

I do not think at the end of a lifetime, anyone ever wishes they had kept a little more (time, money, love).  Believe Jesus when He says “It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

5. Understand time.

Time is a resource.  The more limited a resource, the more valuable the resource.  TIme for all of us is limited, we just don’t know how limited.  There is no such thing as buying time, apply the principles of economics as you use yours.

6. Understand God is timeless.

Not only does God transcend time, but He has chosen to offer an eternity of goodness to all who put their trust in His Son Jesus as Savior.  Understand time (or the absence thereof) in eternity. Redeem the time you have been given and trust the Redeemer to redeem what you cannot.

7. Practice praise.

You were created for praise, this side of Heaven, and for all eternity.  Praise glorifies God and benefits you, it can redeem even the hardest moments.  Praise does not always manifest itself with song and dance. The bible does include songs of praise (Psalm 95), but it also speaks of the sacrifice of praise (Hebrews 13:15).  Learn to practice both.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.  James 1:17 (ESV)
