Overwhelmed

When overwhelmed by grief or sorrow

Fears and worries of tomorrow

Coming storms or falling rain

Loneliness or present pain

Take a breath and close your eyes

As the troubled waters rise

Find your refuge in the King

Who holds you safe above these things

There is a place with waters calm

For every pain, a healing balm

A God who even in the test

Says “Come to me my child and rest”

His faithfulness forever lasts

His hope is sure, His love steadfast

His glory and your good, His will

He is God, O soul, be still

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city God, the holy habitation of the Most high.  God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

“Be still, and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”  The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Psalm 46:1-3, 4-5,10-11
