Not Just Another Day

This is not just another day to wake up and get through

It is a day of moments, ordained for me, for you

This is not just an ordinary life Christ came to give

An overcoming life is what He offers us to live

 

Christ crucified upon the cross, the self which held us bound

For all who choose to share His cross, new lasting life is found

Called in Christ to rise each day, no longer slaves to sin

We live and breathe the freedom that is only found through Him

 

Lord open up our hearts each morning, to your truth and grace

Clothe us with Your armor for the battles we will face

In our hardest moments help us know that You are there

Encourage us through scripture and through times we meet in prayer

 

Lord help us give our whole lives as a fragrant offering

The cross demands not piecework of our lives, but everything

Broken is our offering, and yet we know You give

A better way to live each day, to those who in Christ live

 

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.  And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."        Ephesians 5:1 (ESV)
