Mothers

.

Here, there, everywhere

Nurturing with gentle care

Changing diapers, being wives

In small moments, changing lives

Some are known as “mom” by name

Others not, but just the same

As friends, or aunts, or mentors, they

Show a child a better way                                            -

Some are structured, some are not

They do the best with what they’ve got

Of motherhood they all would say

“There is not only one right way”

They teach children how to talk

How to choose the best of roads to walk

They do their best to figure out

What teenage years are all about                              -

I wonder if their children know

The many ways they love them so

The sacrifices they have made

The hours over them they’ve prayed

A Mother’s heart is a gift it’s true

And on Mother’s Day we celebrate you

You who purpose how to live                                        -

Mother love to freely give

Most everyone who we know of

Has been touched by Mother’s love

So take some time to find a way

To celebrate this Mother’s Day

Thank your Mom and others too

Who helped to shape the good in you

And most of all, thank God above

For creating Mothers love

“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”  Isaiah 66:13 (ESV)
