Imagine at Christmas

Imagine..

Imagine time before time began, before God created the earth and man

Before day and night and land and sea, before anything that we know to be

Imagine in nothingness God in His might spoke the world into place and created the light

From His desire and His plan, to breathe life, and soul into man

Imagine creation designed for His glory, how we His creation are part of this story

But then by man’s choice in the garden so soon this story of glory was turned into gloom

Imagine a people for 2000 years, living the now broken story through tears

With dreams and desires to be restored, to all that at first they were created for

Then ..

Imagine that you were a shepherd that night when the angels appeared with glory and might

Announcing to you that God’s Son was here, that your dreamed of and hoped for redemption was near

Imagine that you’d seen the bright shining star, taking you on a journey afar….

To see if this happening was all that it seemed or if God’s promised Savior was something you’d dreamed

Imagine that you’d seen Him die on the cross, sin needed a price so He paid the cost

And that you’d seen Him rise the third day to be, God’s promise fulfilled and our victory

Imagine now having the choice to make, to give Him your life and your cross to take

Laying everything else that life offered you down, for the joy of becoming a jewel in His crown

And..

Imagine 2000 years later in December, a chance to the wonder of Christmas remember

Imagine your own dreams and oft broken story He still is redeeming and turning to glory

Imagine that this year on Christmas Eve, Jesus still is the best gift to receive

And that out of your nothingness He still has ways of letting you bring to Him honor and praise

Imagine a chance to grow closer to Him as the Christmas lights glisten and then will grow dim

Imagine He offers Himself to you, not just on Christmas Eve but the whole year through

Imagine our lives as the gifts that we bring, as we praise and give thanks and remember our King

And I would imagine this Christmas could be, the best Christmas yet, for you and for me

"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people…” Luke 1:68 (ESV)
