Happy Mother's Day to The Perfect Mom

Some people think the perfect mom, has it all together

That she's never caught without a coat in unexpected weather

That she's never out of sorts because she's got it all under control

That her laundry's always done and that her fridge is always full

Some people think the perfect mom is the one who does it all

Who never has regrets (at least not any she recalls)

Who's never met a problem that she couldn't just embrace

And even on a cleaning day keeps every hair in place

But that does not describe the perfect mom to me and so

I'm going to tell you more about the perfect mom I know

Who taught me when my raincoat's lost, not to come undone

But to dash on through the puddles, and to learn to count it fun

My perfect mom taught me the value in both work and rest

She said I didn't have to BE, just had to DO my best

The perfect mom forgives me if I run a little late

Her life's not been all clockwork so to me she can relate

She doesn't sweat the small stuff for she's come to understand

That life's what you can miss while you are making other plans

She tries to steer me right but let's me choose the path I take

She's not afraid to let me try, to learn from my mistakes

She loves me in the good times (how I wish they'd last forever)

She loves me when I just can't seem to hold it all together

She loves me when I heed the good advice she sends my way

And when I have my own ideas she loves me anyway

A mom knows when to listen, and how to make you laugh

And many moments she has spent in prayer on your behalf

She stands by you when the chips are up and also when they're down

And she'll do anything to make a smile of your frown

Not much in life is perfect, but that's okay with me

A perfect mom's not perfect she just loves you perfectly

And it points you to the greater love of the Holy God above

Who gave your Mom her Mother's Heart, and filled it up with love
