God's Story

​

Before the things we know to be

Before the sky and land and sea

Existed the Glorious Three in One

As Father, Holy Spirit, and Son

 

Into the emptiness God’s word was spoken

Creating a beautiful world, unbroken

And as part of His wonderful plan

God breathed His own breath into man

 

But for the satan, things were rough

Worshiping God was not enough

He wanted to be God, ruling all

His pride led to his terrible fall

 

Knowing now his awful lot

For some consolation satan sought

Why not this good creation undo

By getting the humans to fall too

 

So it was he tempted Eve

Who was easy to deceive

Disobedience led to sin

And a ban from the paradise man was in

 

Would there be a way back to

All that was good and right and true

Although His soul was bereft

God did not leave them as they left

 

God walked with humans and made a way

To fellowship with man each day

Sacrifices had to be made

For every sin, a price be paid

 

Generations came and went

So many sacrifices spent

And though God’s mercy was new each day

The brokenness never went away

A promise God was kind to send

A way for the brokenness to end

A one and done, meet sacrifice

How unimaginable the price

 

No One knew, no not one

That God would choose His Only Son

He was the One who would bear the pain

Who would take God’s wrath and feel our shame

 

Fully God and fully man

Christ came to earth to fulfill this plan

He died upon a cruel cross

To pay for us the priceless cost

 

On Friday He hung on a cross of wood

Mistreated and misunderstood

But then that Sunday morning came

And then, well nothing was the same

 

Death defeated, up from the grave

Rose the Savior who had come to save

Bids to all, come follow me

Forever from Your sin be free

 

No more sacrifices needed

No more tears for mercy pleaded

We can trust Christ’s sacrifice

Because His payment did suffice

 

Look, behold, the Savior risen

Everlasting life now given

To those who this gift receive

And on His saving name, believe

 

Come and know Him as the One

Who makes the broken come undone

Behold the love that sets us free

For now and through eternity 

 

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”    Romans 8:11
