Faith's Covenant

I thought that I was surely holding 

All that I could take 

 

And that perhaps my circumstance 

Would honor me a break 

 

But the tide, instead of turning 

Swept right over me 

 

And washed away the only ray

Of hope that I could see

 

Yet even in the darkness,

God’s love held me tight 

 

And won for me the victories 

I did not have strength to fight

 

I used to walk in fear,

But now I understand

 

Faith holds me in God’s covenant 

And His covenant will stand 

 

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord:  I will put my law into their minds,and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”    Hebrews 8:10 (ESV)
