Christmas: Gladness and Sadness

Sometimes between the Christmas lights
And all the merry and the bright
And warm glow of the fireside
I feel a loneliness inside
Carols filled with sounds of gladness
Sometimes strike a chord of sadness
In my heart, as I remember
What’s still broken this December
Christ has come, we are not alone
And yet we are not truly home
Hardships, brokenness and sorrow
Mark today and cloud tomorrow
On the Cross the war was won
And yet there is still more to come
Deep inside we are longing for
The day when tears shall be no more
May the Christ Child fill our hearts
Even hidden lonely parts
May we seek and may we find
His presence stills our anxious minds
May the wonder of His birth
Remind us love came down to earth
To walk the hardest roads we've known
And make a way, and lead us home

"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
