Breathe

Breathe.

Seems so simple.

So necessary.

Yet so overlooked.

How many times did you breathe today and not even notice?

It is okay that sometimes you don’t notice.  After all, you have a life to live.

But when you stop living that life, when you find yourself doing things just to get them done to get to the next thing, to get to the next thing, to hopefully avoid the next thing...you need to breathe and you need to notice your breath.

Inhale.   God’s goodness.

Exhale.  Your anxieties.

Inhale.  The present.

Exhale.  What could have been and what of the future you wonder (or worry) about.

Breathe.

And then for a second (not much more please) don’t breathe.

Breathe again.

Note how good it feels to breathe.

To have your need (for oxygen) met.

To let go of (carbon dioxide) what you don’t need.

I hope today is not “one of those days”, but it might be.  If not today, maybe tomorrow.

Whether or not it is, I am sure of this.

It is a good day to breathe.  To notice your breath.

Life is complicated.  Still, it is simpler when-

We just breathe.
