As A Father Leads

​

As my father you taught me from when I was small

That God was my Father and Lord over all

 

You told me of Heaven my true home above

And more than just taught me, you showed me His love

 

When my road was too steep, you held my hand

You taught me to keep my eyes fixed on God’s plan

 

You reminded me God has a will and a way

And that blessings are found when we choose to obey

 

I made some mistakes as I stretched and I grew

But rather than simply tell me “I told you”

 

You loved me and helped me however you could

You helped me to see, that God’s love is good

 

You showed me what patience and kindness could do

When my soul was discouraged and my heart broke in two

 

With you there was never an end of a rope

But always the promise of unending hope

 

I thank you for loving with deep father love

It has helped shaped my fellowship with my Father above

 

Life can be hard, but in all that I face

I rest in the hope of God’s goodness and grace

 

I sense God’s delight, when pleasant my ways

Whatever my lot, you taught me to praise

 

I thank you for for helping the ways I seeHow much my Heavenly Father loves me
