Anxiety in Uncertainty

Anxiety came knocking on my door today

I reached up for the door knob but then pulled my hand away

The impulse to say "Come on in!" was really very strong

But I thought of how he'd come before and all that had gone wrong

So I said, "Goodbye, Anxiety, I know there is much to fear...

And I know that you like company, but you won't find it here.

I'm turning my eyes to the skies, where beyond the blue

I know I shall find Company more comforting than you."

I choose these days to know enough to be wise and prepared

To do my part that hardship if it can be, can be spared

And of the things I could fear but are not mine to control

I will not let them weigh me down, or let them be a toll

I will trust the One who can control the things that I cannot

To be my ever present help, my portion and my lot

The path may be uncertain, but be it smooth or rough

I choose Him as my company, and that will be enough

“The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.”  Psalm 16:5 (ESV)
