About Freedom

I wonder how many times it has been tasted

I wonder how many times it has been wasted

I wonder if always it blooms where it’s planted

I wonder how often it’s taken for granted

I wonder how often it’s dreamed of and sought for

I wonder how many have died as it’s fought for

I wonder the price, for which it was  bought

I wonder why free people live like they’re not

I wonder how many folks have it and doubt it

Or how many songs have been written about it

I wonder how many died to it, aspiring

I wonder how many, right now, it’s inspiring

I wonder how much we’d be willing to pay

If ever our freedom was taken away

I wonder how often I thank The Divine

For the great gift of freedom, that He has made mine

“And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants.”  Leviticus 25:10

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”    John 8:36
